The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) urged the Filipino people to push for the repeal of the US-RP Mutual Defense Treaty of 1951 and the pullout of all American military troops in the Philippines in order to ease military and diplomatic tensions over the Scarborough Shoal and Spratly Islands, and pave the way for the peaceful resolution of the conflict and build mutually beneficial relations with both China and the US.

US-RP joint military exercises further tramples on Philippine sovereignty -- CPP

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today said the ten-day Balikatan 2012 military exercises conducted by the US military with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in various parts of the country “has further strengthened the US’ foothold in the Philippines and resulted in the further abasement of Philippine sovereignty.”

Five high-powered firearms seized in Ifugao ambush

At least five high-powered firearms were seized by the New People’s Army in an ambush carried out the other day in Tinoc, Ifugao. Arms seized from the enemy include four M-16 rifles and a Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), one Harris Radio Transceiver, and bullets. The ambuscade was carried out by a unit of the NPA in Ifugao against the forces of the 86th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, who were aboard three six-by-six trucks at Sitio Dontogto, Barangay Binablayan, Tinoc, Ifugao last 25 April at 8:40 am.

US, Aquino governments provoking South China Sea conflicts -- CPP

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) lambasted the Aquino and US governments for provoking conflicts in the South China Sea for the past two years by “issuing bellicose anti-China statements, conducting naval manuevers and power projection operations right next to the disputed areas, and increasing US military presence in the Philippines.“

“It is a patent lie by the US imperialists and their puppets in the Aquino regime to claim that the ongoing Balikatan exercises (US-RP joint military exercises) have nothing to do with the South China Sea conflict,” said the CPP.
