Dear comrades, dear friends and relatives,
Today we are mourning with you over Comrade Gregorio Rosal, „Ka Roger“, the CPP spokesperson, who died on June 22nd 2011 at the age of 64 after suffering a heart attack .
To his daughters and entire family, his friends and comrades, the leadership and members of the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People's Army, the NDFP and the Filipino people and proletariat, I would like to convey condolences and heartfelt sympathy on behalf of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany, its youth league Rebell and the children's organization Red Foxes.
I would also like to convey the personal condolences and deep sympathy of Stefan Engel, the party chairman of the MLPD on his behalf.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines wrote in his statement:
„For more than a decade as the Party's spokesperson, and prior to this, as spokesperson of the New People's Army in Southern Tagalog he was the face and the voice of the revolution.
He symbolized the struggle of ordinary folk – the peasant masses, workers, the urban poor, employees and small professionals – who had lofty aspirations of liberation from the ruling system that oppressed and exploited them.“
Some comrades of us had the possibility to meet him personally.
We have known Ka Roger for many years as a selfless revolutionary, Marxist-Leninist and proletarian internationalist.
His death is without any doubt a great loss, not only for you, but also for the international revolutionary, marxist-leninist and workers movement and our joint revolutionary struggle.
We are convinced that he would have wanted us to carry on the struggle to which he dedicated his life and to convert the grief about his death into strength in the pursuit of his revolutionary aims.
The German poet Bertolt Brecht wrote:
Those who are weak do not fight
Those who are stronger might fight for an hour.
Those who are even stronger might fight for many years.
The strongest fight their whole life.
These are the indispensable ones!
Ka Roger is one of these!
We will hold up high the flag that he had to lay down and will always keep him in revolutionary memory.
